Perfect Pairing

A visit to Corona del Mar's Sherman Garden Conservatory is always a treat.  A koi pond,  gorgeous Bromeliads...
 ...and what's that?
Oooooh!  Cool!  They hung parasols from the ceiling.
I alternated between admiring the gorgeous tropical plants...
...and being delighted by parasols floating above.
The color of the crotons was nearly a match.

 Plants luxuriant...
 ...and lighthearted whimsy...
made a perfect pairing, one that put a big smile on my face.  I hope it does the same for you.

  1. Beautiful all these colorful parasols hanging from the ceiling of the glasshouse.
Wonderful tropical plants, some of these bromeliads I grow on the windowsill in my
house, but ooh they look so poor in comparison with those in that tropical conservatory.
Wish you a Happy and Healthy New Gardening Year!

    1. Thank you Janneke, New Year Good Wishes to you!

Here we can grow some of the bromeliads outdoors, but the big tropical foliage needs more humidity than our climate provides.

  2. Oh yes! That is delightful! They chose the perfect colors for a tropical conservatory.

  3. Wow! It's probably a good thing I didn't join you guys at Sherman Gardens this time - that place seems to inspire me to new garden challenges, like the lath house and my bromeliad bed. Now, your photos have me thinking of paper parasols. Who knows, next it'll be a koi pond!

    1. Would have been fun to see you. The beds that were full of Dahlias last time were full of small and dwarf conifers this visit. Not as spectacular as the Dahlias. There was a very friendly kitty to pet, though.

  6. As silly as it sounds, these parasols were a highlight of my trip because they were so unexpected--and beautiful.

  7. The parasols are beautiful and remind me of a cafe I frequent in Palm Springs. I have to share a short croton story. I recently returned from vacation where I should have been more focused on 'relaxing' and 'the beach'. However, I was so enamored by the fact that I saw what are tropical houseplants to me, croton and pothos, just growing outside in their habitat. It was so lovely I had to stop and take photos. Your croton pics just took me back to that lovely island, thank you.

  8. I always love bromeliads and air plants, and paired with parasols even better!
